The Passion according to the Gospel of St. John was traditionally read in the liturgy on Good Friday. Arvo Pärt (born in 1935) completed his Passion in 1982 while in exile in Austria and it gradually became one of the most famous works of this author and the most important sacred compositions of the 20th century. Although in many ways inspired by ancient centuries, even in chamber settings they are powerful and evocative, drawing the listener into the story of Christ’s passion. The Brno premiere of the Passion will be given by the Martinů Voices ensemble and instrumentalists led by Lukáš Vasilek.
THE CONCERT WILL TAKE PLACE IN THE CHURCH OF ST. JAMES ON ST. JAMES SQUARE
