Ralph Vaughan Williams The Lark ascending
Einojuhani Rautavaara Symphony No. 7 (Angel of Light)
Josef Špaček violin
Filharmonie Brno
conductor Anna-Maria Helsing
The final concert of the Easter Festival will for the first time be without the human voice and therefore without the texts being set to music. However, the titles of the compositions themselves evoke strong emotions, and even more so the compositions themselves and their performance in the temple space. Ralph Vaughan Williams’s famous The Rise of the Lark can be understood as the joy of a new spring, a resurrection. Finnish composer Einojuhani Rautavaara’s Seventh Symphony belongs to his series of works with angelic themes and was premiered in 1994.
THE CONCERT TAKES PLACE AT THE CHURCH OF ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST AND ST. JOHN THE EVANGELIST
